Peggy Wakeham was born on August 30th, 1989 in St. John’s, but grew up in Bay Roberts, NL. Peggy started working with Xtreme in 2005 primarily as a demonstrator, and has become an important piece of the Xtreme Hockey team. Peggy has been in the conversation as being the greatest female hockey player that the province of Newfoundland has ever produced.

Wakeham played minor hockey Bay Roberts, and was a dominant female player amongst teams primarily made up of males. Peggy’s abilities caught the eye of the University of Vermont Catamounts (NCAA Div I), where she played for 4 seasons. Peggy left Vermont in 2011 to attend the University of New Brunswick, where she played CIAU Hockey for the UNB Reds. Upon completion, Peggy was drafted by Calgary in the CWHL, the top women’s hockey league in Canada.

Peggy currently works with Rochlochston Subsea, and when she is not coaching or working, she can be found helping out with the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
