Not sure what group to register for in the Pre Season and Fall 2017 terms? Here is an explanation of each grouping:
This group is for pure beginners, and players born in 2013, 2012, and 2011. This group focuses on having fun, balance, basic skating techniques, and very basic puck skills. All hockey equipment is required; jock, shin pads, hockey socks, hockey pants, skates, shoulder pads, elbow pads, neck guard, jersey, helmet with cage, gloves, and stick. Don't have a jersey? Contact firstname.lastname@example.org to get a free top!
This group is for players born in 2010 and 2009, who will not play Novice Select hockey in 2017-18. This group focuses on the fundamental skills of skating, shooting, passing, and stickhandling. There are two Silver Novice groups - neither group is stronger or weaker than the other. The offering has two slots for convenience purposes.
This group is for players born in 2008, 2007, 2006, and 2005 birthyears (we subdivide the ice to group the kids more effectively). Players in this group play Atom and Peewee hockey, mostly at the Atom and Peewee B level and below. Skills that are focused on in this grouping: foundation puckhandling, agility, quickness, stride extension, pivoting, and crossing over.
This group is for players born in 2008, 2007, and 2006*. All skill levels are welcome! We focus on backward skating, pivoting, C cuts, explosive starts, and basic in-game defensive concepts (with and without pucks) in this grouping.
* There may be a few 2005 and 2009 birthyears in this grouping as well. However, we strongly encourage Novice-aged players to do either the Silver Novice or Platinum Novice groupings *
This group is for players born in 2009, and 2010 who are Novice Select-calibre skaters and goaltenders. Players who have a very strong chance at making their respective Novice Select team should consider this program. If you are unsure if this program is right for you, please contact email@example.com . Skills taught in this program are: explosive stops and starts, advanced puckhandling, shooting, pivoting, and one-leg balance drills.
This grouping is for All Star 2008's and 2007's who are playing Atom A in the DJHL, as well as a sprinkling of Atom B players.
This grouping is for All Star 2006's, and 2005's who are playing Peewee A Hockey in the DJHL. The skills and drills for this group will be virtually identical to that of the Platinum Atom group, with some minor tweaks. There will be 2 groupings of Platinum Peewee in the pre-season term.
This grouping is for Peewee AAA, Bantam A and Bantam AAA players. This is the most challenging grouping that Xtreme offers, and will primarily be a group of 2003's and 2004's.
We are very excited to follow up on the successful pilot program from 2016-17! Female-only power skating is open to any female looking to improve their skills from the ages 2009-2004 (we will subdivide the ice based on skill level). A broad range of skills will be taught in this program, depending on which sub-grouping that you are in on the ice. For more details, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
